Danny Hartling's 1957 Willys FC-150 Forward Control Truck

This FC-150 was purchased by Danny Hartling in October 1997.

This truck was always garaged and hasn't seen winter. In fact, the body has almost no rust at all though it does boast the scars of a well worn truck. There are some dings and dents which will have to be hammered out and filled. The bed is intact but the floor is wavey in conforming with the bed supports beneath.

Here is a shot through the left door. The newly upholstered seats are visible as is some of the original and completely intact headliner. The door panels are mostly intact except at the very bottom. Also notice the wear on the passenger door panel and the missing armrest. Though this FC-150 has the delux cab, the passenger armrest is missing.

There is not much to see from this picture. The floor is intact on both the driver and passenger sides. The gearshift decal is located on the cooling tunel just under the photographer's foot.

Here is the left side of the engine. It is quite clean with worn but original decals on the valve cover and the oil filter canister. The fuel pump did leak and was replaced with a rebuilt unit. The new unit does not have the glass bowl filter however, so an inline filter is needed. The old pump as well as a spare are being kept in order to rebuild at some point. Also, the windshield wiper vacuum hose was attached to the intake manifold below the carburetor rather than to the fuel pump. All the hoses have since been properly connected. The engine runs well and the truck is fun to drive.

Here is how the truck looked last summer. The bed was reinstalled with new hardware. Much of the frame was sanded and repainted. Also the road dirt and grime was cleaned from the transmission/transfer case. The emergency brake has been taken apart and repaired. Still need a new brake cable as this one cannot be adjusted anymore.
