Scott "Strud" Strudwick MN 1964 M-676 9326-10001 PTO driven hydraulic dump. Purchased from Ted Parshall. This really is an M-676. After spending many hours reading the M-678.com website, it appears that what I thought was a 1964 FC-170 is actually an M-676. It has the serial number 9326-10001. This brings the survivors up from 4 to 5.

Tim Burk WA 1964 M-677 9327-XXXXX Here is an update on my personal Fc experience... I had to sell my 59 Fc170 to finance the purchase of the M677 that is in the pictures. It is in great shape with only 42k miles. Solid and sound , warn od pto winch and a 226 t90 combo. I hope to make the 226 run correctly as it makes about 40hp presently or swap it for a 258 jeep six. I feel really lucky to have this low mile solid jeep and should have it painted soon...

Dave Organ GA 1964 M-677 9327-10287 I just found a 1964 M-677 that I will aquire shortly. It was formerly with the USMC and was delivered on 6-64. It is original and complete, but needs quite a bit of mechanical work. Here's the deal: I have to help disassemble the building it is in and then reassemble it at another location, then move several vehicles to the same location. Once complete, the 677 is mine! I figure this will take about two weeks.
Mark Robbins 1964 M-677 9327-10147 Sold to Daniel Horenberger.

Jesse Ybarra AZ 1964 M-677 9327-10188

Now truck is mechanically restored, it is in good running condition and has new glass. Was in a recent edition of Military Vehicles magazine. the engine.

UPDATE: The (cerlist diesel) needed minor work and ran fine, however despite reading about how other owners like the truck with the original equipment. I was very dissatisfied with the performance: noise, vibration, lack of power, interior smell. Most of all I restored the truck that I have always wanted to have only to park it in the back of the garage because I hated how it ran.

I removed all the running gear put it all on pallets. Everything else from radiator to the gas tank including all the electrical 24 V system was removed. I made new mounts that bolted in a rebuilt Chevrolet 6.5 diesel V8 & OD automatic in front of a 205 transfer case, aluminum radiator and 12" brakes. The new mounts all go to the original mounting locations. After only one trip off road I came back with only 2 of the 4 gears. L60E trans broke one more time after that.

The 6.5 and OD were replaced due to overheating (both heads cracked). The next time the trans went (well, I had to get home). Today I prefer driving this truck over anything else (12 other collectibles). The new changes are: Chevrolet gasoline fuel 350 w/400 crank (383), turbo 400, 4.10 gears, 315-85-16 (36") tires, new radiator from COE Peterbuilt w/larger direct fan and an electric fan.

The best three things I learned this time were
1. to add a remote visible brake fluid reservoir.
2. 12" engine set back for a better weight distribution (How much better the truck handles!)and
3. Improved cooling. (how much more comfortable I am in the truck, with the engine running at 160 degrees with outside temperature getting over 120 degrees in the shade during 4 of the summer months)
