In May 1999, I had opportunity to return to Massachusetts and decided to drive by Phil O'Brien's Dad's garage where this former MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority) truck is parked.

Looking head on. Note the very large steel bumper with lumber bolted on. This was probably for pushing busses. (I use to drive transit busses for the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority in western Massachusetts and our shop vehicles were similarly equipped.)

Here is a left side view, though obscured by the old Chevy Camaro. The truck is equipped with a factory flatbed stake. The cab has lots of rust and there is a tree growing up through the frame rails. I think that this is an outstanding candidate for restoration simply due to its rarity.

Here's the right side with the large "T" decal on the door. This is the symbol for the MBTA. Commuters in the Boston area talk of taking the "T" to work.

Here is an interior shot through the left door. Note the speedometer mounted above the dashboard. I believe that this is done to accomodate a vacuum assist unit for the brakes. Not all FCs are so equipped. {Anyone who has seen Peter C. Sessler's book, Illustrated Jeep Buyer's Guide, may remember a photo on page 85 of the interior of Larry Munther's 1964 FC-170 DRW Fire Engine which was similarly equipped.} This DRW is also equipped with the T-98 4-speed transmission
